Copic Oz - Think Pink Challenge

I have been determined to participate in the Copic Oz "Think Pink" challenge.  Copic Oz is donating $5 per card participating in the challenge to the McGrath Foundation, however, if they get 100 cards then they will increase their donation to $10 per card.  At the time of writing this post, they had just hit 100, which means they will be donating at least $1000 (Copic Marker Australia Facebook page advises of increase in donation).  This is a fantastic cause and I'm glad to be participating.  I won't ramble any more, here is my card for the "Think Pink" challenge.

Edited:  I confirm that my card is number 101 in the challenge.

A Year in Review - Simple Stories Year-o-graphy

Hi fellow crafters, earlier this year I made the "Year in Review" album and box as designed by Kathy Orta from Paper Phenomenon.  I  had heaps of fun making this album and absolutely love the Simple Stories Year-o-graphy paper.

Once again this project was just so I can show case the pretty papers. I do not plan on putting any photos into this album, though it is a functional album.  I also love glitter, so the box I made to house the album has lots of glitter on it. Might be a bit much for those of you who watch the video, but I love it :-)  Enjoy the video and thanks for watching.

Build-a-Page - G45 ABC Primer

Hi fellow crafters, earlier this year I made the Build-a-Page album, as designed by Kathy Orta from Paper Phenomenon.  However, I never took any photos to show case it on my blog (that I remember anywho!).  As soon as I saw Kathy's Graphic 45 ABC Primer version of this album I knew that I wanted to do it.  I love the tutorial and I love G45 papers.  Like with my previous video "Halloween 2011 Scrapbook Album", I made the album to show case the beautiful G45 papers and not to use as a functional album, even though it is.  I would go so far to say that it was this tutorial that gave me the courage to start using my pretty pattern papers.  I would even say since finding Kathy's classes and tutorials I love to use my paper, both in making her albums and in my card making or off the page projects in a way that allows me to show case the prettiness of the papers.  Best of all, I get to be creative in the process.  I hope you enjoy this short video of my completed project.

Fancy Folds - CCC Challenge #22

Hello fellow crafters.  Time for another challenge.  This fortnight the challenge over at Creative Card Crew is "Fancy Folds".

This challenge is proudly sponsored by:

For the "fancy folds" challenge, I decided to make a diamond card. I believe there are probably a number of variations out there known as diamond cards, but this is the style I was taught a few years back.

I'm really happy with how this card has turned out. Even though we don't really celebrate Halloween here in Australia, I decided to go with a halloween image and style card, but with my girly twist to it.

Halloween 2011 Scrapbook Album

Hi fellow crafters, today I finally got around to doing a video on the Confessions of a Shopaholic, Halloween version, scrapbook album that I made approximately October 2011.

The tutorial for the album was created by Kathy Orta from Paper Phenomenon. I had fun making this album, and love the halloween papers I used (K & Company).  Please check out my video to see the album.

Birthday Card - Dad

Last week my dad celebrated his birthday. Unfortunately I didn't organise myself well enough and make his card in time. On the weekend I spent time in the craft room and decided to make his card. I had an idea in mind, especially the image I wanted to use.  I think the card came together really well. Tonight my dad rang to say he had received the card and that he really liked it.  My dad has a great sense of humour, so I knew he would appreciate the saying that goes with the image.  Here is the card I made.

Copic Colour Journal

A little while ago I was inspired to start a Copic Colour Journal.  My inspiration came from Emma and you can view her blog "craftymummy2five" HERE and her copic colour journal HERE.

I actually plan to make my own SMASH book and then transfer what I've done in my 'temporary' copic colour journal to that.  In the mean time I keep working with what I've got.

The way I use my copic colour journal is I just pick three markers that appeal to me, usually within the same colour family and occasionally a fourth marker in a different colour family that I like and put them together to see what I come up with.  In essence, I don't follow the copic colour family rules all the time. As I am still learning, I figure the best way to find out what I like and don't like is to just see.

Over the past few months I have been practicing my hair colouring techniques.  I started out on straight hair and for this I purchased the digi Emo Lola from Simpy Betty Stamps (SBS).  As I didn't want to colour the whole image I cropped her head so I only had the hair to work with.  The inspiration for using a SBS came from Aeryn and you can view her blog "Creative Explosion" HERE and her copic colouring tutorial on straight hair HERE.

Recently, in the last month or two, I purchased the Colouring Long hair in fine detail e-book tutorial by Zoe from Make it Crafty (MiC).  The tutorial has a Saturated Canary digi called "Zoe" for practicing the hair colouring.  Well, today I decided to have a go at that tutorial. I'm not very happy with my results, but for my first attempt I can't really complain.  I read the tutorial completely before attempting it, and had it in front of me as I did it, but as I am a visual person I think I'm going to study the images in a bit more detail before having another go.  The tutorial is really easy to follow, so I know that I will improve with practice.

Now I'm going to share with you my progress to-date.

I have found my copic colour journal to be a great source, even in the short time I started it and the limited techniques I have done.  If you haven't started one and you are wondering whether it is worth, I think it is.

I also agree with Zoe from MiC, the whole process should be FUN and at the end of the day, it is only yourself that needs to be happy with the result. It is not a competition, there is no prize at the end but the pleasure in accomplishing something that is visually appealing to you.
