Kanban Urban Belle Cards coloured with Copics

Last year I was playing with my copics and coloured one of my Kanban Urban Belle girls in the same colours, with the exception of the jeans/jacket. I had recently invested in new blue copics and wanted to see how the same image would look just by altering one piece of clothing. This week I decided to take the girls and finish off making a card with them. Since they were already coloured there wasn't much for me to do. I've kept the cards really simple. I think the girl with the lighter colour blue jeans/jacket looks younger than the girl with the darker jeans/jacket. I'm really happy with how both these cards turned out.

During the week I have been working on Xmas cards. Yep, I know Xmas is over, but a friend gave me a small gift at Xmas time that was wrapped up in Xmas paper she had purchased from Typo. The paper had small square images of Father Xmas, approx 3"x3", and I thought they were ideal to make into Xmas cards. It was a way of recycling something I received. In addition the images all had quirky sayings that I think are funny. I was able to make 20 cards with the Xmas paper with six different images.

Happy New Year 2012

I've been quite slack during 2011 with my posting of my craft projects/items. I have made more items than I have posted. I plan to be better in posting more regularly the projects I make through out the year as well as trying to achieve completing more projects. Birthday Card - Dad

Here is the birthday card/album that I made for my dad. It is based on the Build-A-Page Wallet tutorial by Paper Phenomenon. The Wallet tutorial was available on YouTube for free, but I purchased the Build-A-Page tutorial that forms the bases of this card/album. However, the tutorial doesn't seem to allow enough space for lumpy bumpy embellishments, so I had to redesign it slightly to ensure that it didn't come apart due to how I had decorated it. The majority of paper used was Graphic 45 "A Proper Gentleman" series. The photos of this card/album were taken before I put any photos inside, but I filled it up with old photos for a trip down memory lane. My dad absolutely loved the card/album. I had fun making it and plan to do a few more. The album really lends itself to the Graphic 45 paper series.

Most of the flaps had a top loading pocket and a half flap. The tags with stamped/rub-on images had some photos and the tags (not shown) that go in the top loading pockets had the main photos on them with the back left blank so my dad and write what he remembers when he trips down memory lane.

Farewell Card - Nizhoni

Back in August I was asked by a work colleague to make a farewell card for someone in her team. I wasn't given much to go on, but was told she liked owls and the colour blue, specifically turquoise. I didn't really have any turquoise card stock or paper, but I did have several owl images, such as stamps, papers and embossing folder. The card is like a mini album, with a few flaps that open up. I'm very happy with how the card turned out and I know that Nizhoni, who the card was for, was very happy with it and thanked me for such a beautiful card.

Cards - Inspired by Praire Paper and Ink

Back in August I made a dozen cards that were inspired, almost CASED from Praire Paper and Ink blog. I loved what Amy did and couldn't wait to get into my craft room to make these cards. I used several products I have rarely or never used, such as buttons and my stamping bella stamps.

Kanban stamps cards

The Canberra Quilt and Craft has been on this weekend. I went to the fair on Friday and really enjoyed it. One of my craft fair purchases is the Kanban 2010 Christmas Urban Belles (Stamp9033) set. As soon as I saw this set I thought it was fantastic to practice my copic colouring, as well as other colouring mediums. I didn't actually buy this set on Friday, but a friend of mine went to the fair Sunday, the last day, so I asked her to pick it up for. I collected the stamp set from her place this afternoon and when I got home I decided I wanted to play straight away. I have used all three of the 'belles' but kept the colours the same when using my copics. I'm really happy with how all the cards have turned out.

Embossed Butterfly Card

Lately I've been watching scrapbooking and card tutorials offered by Two Peas in a Bucket. The tutorials I have been watching are free. Anyway, after watching one the other night it motivated me to get into my craft room and make a card using my embossing powders. I think it's been nearly a year since I've done any embossing. Halloween Cards

While I was in Queensland earlier this year I purchased a We R Making Memories Halloween Designer Card Kit from Arnolds Scrapbooking. Well, after watching Creations by Christie putting together her designer card kit, I got motivated to put mine together. Even though I don't celebrate Halloween and don't know anyone here in Australia who does, I still really like all the craft halloween stuff. These cards were really quick and easy. Christie, from Creations by Christie did her cards within an hour, but it took me about two hours. Here are my cards:

Birthday Card - Nicole

I'm a bit late with getting my birthday cards done, and the one for my friend Nicole was no exception. I posted earlier about a card class that I did at Wrapped In Paper, specifically the "Birthday Surprise" card. Well, I decided to make this card for my friend Nicole, but I wanted to do it in a 6"x6" size instead of the 4"x6" size that we did in the card class. It took a few hours, and I think a good hour was just the mistakes I made. Anyway, I got the card finished and I'm really happy with how it turned out. It is also my second card using my copics. My friend Nicole was very happy with the card.

WIP Card Class - Birthday Surprise

This morning I did another card class at Wrapped In Paper. This card class was called "Birthday surprise". The card is just beautiful, and Gail did a fantastic job coming up with this design. We all had lots of fun. Many of the ladies at yesterdays class were also there today. The colours are beautiful and even though I said I'd exhausted my craft budget, I decided that I could spare a few extra $$$$ to buy the "gog" punch used. The scallop circle was done using a punch, but Gail said you could easily do it using your Nestabilities, so that is what I will be using since I have many nesties. WIP Card Class - Cuttlebug 07

This morning I attended the Cuttlebug 07 card class at Wrapped in Paper. We made three cards using either the Cuttlebug or the new Tim Holtz "Vagabond". We also used a combination of Cuttlebug embossing folders and Spellbinders Nestabilities. These cards were fun to do and have given me more ideas for my Cuttlebug and of course I couldn't resist purchasing some more craft items. Oh well, at least I'm having fun, but no craft budget left now until next pay.

Birthday Card - Elle - My First Copic Card

My friend Elle recently celebrated her birthday. The birthday card that I gave her was my first ever Copic card and my first ever easel card. I'm very happy with this card. I don't usually work with so much purple, for me I generally use it as an accent colour, but because purple is her favourite colour I decided that it was going to be shades of purple. The colours came together really well and even if I do say so myself, I'm very proud of how my copic colour came out.

Recently I'd done a class at Wrapped In Paper, as well as a quick lesson from my friend Robyn, she works for Arnold's Scrapbooking, when I was recently in Queensland and absorbing all the information from the Lime Tart Copic Club tutorials.

I've taken two photos, one of the card and the other a close up of my copic colour. The photo doesn't look as good as the real thing, but it is a pretty good reflection of my effort. I also know that Elle, and everyone else I showed it to, loves the card and appreciates the work gone into it. I'm so hooked on copics, it's just so much fun.

If anyone is interested, it is a Loralie stamp that I purchased from my friends shop, Keep It Simply Stamping and I used the following copic colours:

Scrapbooking Class with Ann Craig

Each month, commencing in March, I have been attending scrapbooking classes held by Ann Craig. I'm really enjoying these classes and have been stretching myself to select colours that perhaps I wouldn't normally work with. Ann is very talented and I get a lot of inspiration from the work she does, both her scrapbook pages and her cards. Below are the four pages I have done so far. My pages don't have photos, as I am using these as sketch pages. My main reason for this is that I have so many Creative Memories albums to use, the albums before they introduced "true" 12"x12" albums, that these pages I have been doing at Ann's would require me to cut them down and I just can't be bothered doing that.

WIP Recipe Book Class

On 11 May, my birthday, I treated myself to a class at Wrapped in Paper. The class was a "Recipe Book". My friend Pam joined me for this class (& my birthday celebrations), and we both really enjoyed the class. Of course we then had to have all the tools we didn't already have to make this project again. My friend Pam has already made some more, well at least commenced more books, whereas I have yet to pull out my stuff and make some more. This class has inspired me to get cracking with my craft catalogue, as originally inspired by Christie of "Creations by Christie".

Wedding Card - Kv & Shantha

I really enjoyed making the "spinner" card in the Wrapped in Paper card class (see previous post), that I decided to make the same style card for my friend Kv, who got married in mid April. To make it easier on myself, I kept the colours of the card simple, black, white & grey. I'm pretty happy with how this card turned out, given I only made it the night before I flew out to Queensland for the wedding.

Cards - Graphic 45 - On the Boulevard

I had a very relaxing new years day and one of the things I did was make some very simple masculine cards using the Graphic 45 "On the Boulevard" paper. Birthday Card - Music, Flowers & Green

My work colleague Allan, asked me to make him a birthday card for his wife. The scope I was given was Music, Flowers & the colour green. He did say that with music she specifically likes the Indian guitar, which I think he said is a three string instrument. Anyway, I'm too tired to go looking for exactly what it is and I don't have anything like that within my craft collection, so to me the next best think was a standard guitar. However, I decided that my focus would be the colour green. As you see, it has a guitar and a couple of flowers, but it is very green. When I give it to Allan tomorrow, I shall see whether he does/doesn't like it.

Farewell Card - Tim

Work colleagues in another team asked me to make a farewell card for their team leader who is moving into another part of the team. They wanted to show their appreciation, so asked me to make him a card. The scope I was given was cycling, swimming and the colour blue. Well, not having much in the way of cycling or swimming, I went with a blue theme. However, I do have a Darkroom Door stamp that had a road bike on it, so I thought that would be fitting. Tim's team loved the card and I believe Tim will love it too when they present it to him later on this week.

Farewell Card - Matt

Another work colleague has departed the team. I guess it is that time where staff members move on to other opportunities. As such, I made this farewell card for Matt. I didn't have much to go on, but I was lead to believe that he likes the beach. I don't mind this card, but it is not one of my better cards. I did find this card hard, as I don't have much in the way of sun surf and sand, so the card is predominately made up of stickers rather than stamping.

I've finally made some modifications to my craft room and I think it's looking fantastic. The changes aren't anything major, but I am already noticing that they are having a major impact on how I use my craft room. My work colleague and friend Georgette, asked me to make her a 21st birthday card for her daughter's boyfriend. Georgette doesn't know him too well, but she said he liked the colour blue and he's into go-carting. 2010 Card a Day Challenge - Cards #79-#82

This morning I called into Elle's place to have another look at her fabulous craft room. She's done a great effort in updating her craft room. You can check it out here. After visiting Elle's craft room, I was inspired to reorganise mine, which I have done a little of and to do some actual crafting, which this post is going to show the cards I made. Recently I purchased some Kraftin' Kimmie stamps. I just love these stamps and want to get more. Anyway, the first one I have decided to make into a card is the Marie Antoinette stamp. I've done four cards, exactly the same, with the exception of the colour, I wanted to see how she would come out with different colour dresses. I am really happy with my cards.

Mother's Day Card

I'm fortunate enough to have my mum visiting me for a couple of weeks. This means that we will spend Mother's Day together. Below is the card I made for her. I wanted to keep it fairly simple and I had seen this simple layout done by my friend Philippa Barr. It's not an exact CASE of her work, more I was inspired by what she had done. This is also my first real attempt at colouring in using the new water colour crayons I got last month.

2010 Card a Day Challenge - Cards #57 - #60

At the Canberra Craft Fair in August last year, I purchased some cheap pretty patterned paper. Unfortunately the craft stall that I purchased the paper from did not have instructions on the cards that they had made with this paper. However, they were kind enough to allow me to take photos of the cards. Over the last couple of days I've made the follow two designs, which are a CASE from this craft stall. The first patterned paper I was able to make three cards, all in various sizes and the second patterned paper I made six cards, all of the same. Both these cards are of a style that I would not normally do. However, I really like the black, red and white one, so may look at making that again, but next time using a flourish stamp to create the same effect. I'm happy with both card designs.

2010 Card a Day Challenge - Cards #36 - #55

Well, it's been quite a while since I made a card for my personal goal of "Card a Day Challenge". I'm quite ok with not making a card a day, I've used that title to inspire me to be more creative than what I was last year.

Anyway, I've had a very full craft weekend. Saturday was my card class, which ended up being a craft session with my friend about four hours longer than the card class. Sunday morning was my SU! demo training, as noted in my previous post. After grabbing a bite to eat for lunch, I noticed that I was in a craft mojo so decided to run with. As such, I made the following 20, yes that's right, 20 cards. I was inspired by my SU! Up-line to use the SU 6"x6" DSP hostess level one gift. I've used the Medallion stamp set on all of them as there were so many cards on SCS to inspire me.

Out of all the cards that I made, there are only two I really don't like, they just don't work. It is two of the Garden Green and Pumpkin Pie ones. You will notice them (card set 05) as they are very obvious. Still working out the best way to fix them so I do like them. Anyway, I'm really happy overall with how these cards turned out. By the end of it, my craft room and myself were covered from head to toe in dazzling diamonds ROFLOL.

SU! Demo Training Swap - April 2010

Last Saturday was my friend Pam's birthday. This is the card I made for her. It is a take on a card I did at Fiona Platzer's card class last Thursday night.

Birthday Card - Roslyn

Tonight I'm going to Fiona Platzer's card class. We will also be celebrating our up-line, Roslyn Vest's birthday, which was late last week. Below is the belated birthday card I have made for Roslyn. Becky Roberts of Inking Idaho inspired me to purchase the Simple Birthday Wish stamp. This is one of the stamps I used for my card class, see card class 01/2010 post. I really like this stamp set and I plan to use it heaps. Hope you like the card.

On Friday 26 March I held my first ever card class. I had two people attend the class and they made three cards, shown below. My craft room generously seats four people, but I can comfortably seat six. I'm really happy with my cards and the ladies had fun making them also.

Wedding Card

On Saturday I went to my friends wedding. She looked absolutely beautiful, the bridesmaids were pretty and the groomsman scrubbed up ok also. At their reception they had cupcakes as part of their wedding cake, so this is where I got the theme for my card. I think the card turned out pretty good.

SUDSOL SSC#23

I have signed up for a free two week trial with Simply Unique Demonstrators Sharing On Line (SUDSOL). Last night after my card class at Fiona Platzer's, I finally managed to find time to start exploring what SUDSOL has to offer. One of the things that caught my eye was their Stamp Set Challenge #23. This is where a stamp set or theme is set and you create something based on that. This weeks challenge is using the Happy Moments stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue. I decided I wanted to have a go. I had recently purchased a card from a local newsagency as I liked the idea and was planning at some point to use it as inspiration. Well, last night that inspiration came. I made four cards, all the same with the exception of colour combinations. I'm really happy with my designs for SSC#23. Below is the card that inspired me plus my four colour combinations:

Those of you who follow my blog know that I set myself a challenge of a card a day. Well, as you can see from the date of my last post, 4 January 2010, I have not exactly been meeting that challenge. There have been a number of reasons, but those reasons are now no longer valid, in my mind, so it is time to get my mojo revved up again and get creating.

I have made several cards since my last post. A birthday card for my mum and I did a one-on-one class with a work colleague, which resulted in me doing up a proto Valentine's Day card, as this is what she wanted to make. I have also made some cards at my Stampin' Up Demo training, but unfortunately I do not have these to post.

Below is the birthday card for my mum, I just love the Never-ending Flip card and below that is the Valentine's Day card.

2010 Card a Day Challenge - Card #004

Tonight I have kept my 'Card a Day Challenge' simple. I used only pink and blue colour scheme with the exception of my brad, which is a silver filigree from Stampin' Up. I love the colours and I absolutely love my cuttlebug die cut & embossing butterfly set. I would have to say that pink is now probably my favourite colour and I love it with blue and with brown. Here is my very simple card, and with no stamping.

Today I decided to make my 'Card a Day Challenge' card early. The reason for this is that I am going to see a girlfriend who has just finished building her house, so I'm giving her this card with a Peace Lilly plant as a house warming gift. I'm really happy with this card, I think the colours are beautiful. I have decided that my 'Card a Day Challenge' theme for this week is cards made with brads. I so love these brads from the SU 2009 Spring Mini.

One of my goals for 2010 is to make a card a day. I've left it a bit late for today, but I still made the time to make a card. My theme, so to speak, was wanting to make a card with brads. This was based on the Yahoo group Late Night Stampers Challenge #51. However, I didn't use all current SU products, the brads I used were from the Spring Mini which finished 30 Nov 2009. I'm really happy with the card I made.

Cards made for Secret Santa 2009

The team that I'm in at work decided to do a Secret Santa. The gift was to cost no more than $10. You could either purchase a gift for $10 or make something using materials to the value of $10. As I love craft, I decided that I would make some cards, using materials up to the value of $10. To assist me with this, I found a OSW inspired by Sandra Wingate of Paper, Pansies and Pachyderms blog. I also decided, because I left it so late, that I would only make cards up until midnight. I was starting at 9pm, and I figured midnight was late enough since I had to work the next day and I wasn't feeling very well. Anyway, I managed to make six cards. Below are the cards I made, which I'm really happy with and the person who received my Secret Santa was also very happy.

Anniversary Card

A friend of mine asked me to make him an anniversary card. I had a lot of flexibility, he said, make it girlie and pink, which are two of my most favourite themes. I find as I get older I am more partial to the colour pink, within reason. The card I made was the flip flop album, inspired by Annette Rolls. I am very happy with the outcome and so is my friend. I can't wait for him to give it to his wife and here how she feels about it.

Creating a Transparent watermark signature using Paint.Net

Ok, I'm not really sure who will read this, but I just had to share that I was so excited when I found some great help on-line, after a few days of searching, on how to create a transparent watermark signature in Paint.net. I was at the stage of pulling my hair out, ready to give up and go buy some software. However, during my late night/early morning search I found some really easy instructions. Unfortunately I didn't note who the author was of the instructions, as I wasn't originally going to post to my blog how to. However, there maybe someone else out there googling this question, so I decided I would post the instructions I found so that it can assist anyone else who may have been in the same position I was.

"Creating a transparent watermark signature using Paint.Net"

Open Paint.Net
Click on the New icon or File New - this will open up a default Background
Ensure you open up the Layer Window - From the Tool Bar select Window->Layers
Add New Layer by clicking on the far left icon of the Layer window, the one with the plus sign
In the Layer Window, select the Background, then click on the delete button. You will now be left with a transparent layer, reflected by the black and white check background
Click on the Text key in the Tool bar. Type your text.
Save as .png - this is very important. I tried to save as .jpg, but it didnt' give me the transparent background I was after. Therefore, it must be .png if you want the transparent background.

And that is it. You can then import this file over any other image,. An example of this is my previous post, where I imported this watermark over the top of a scan of my card.

The reason I wanted to create this watermark signature template, was so I could import over my scanned images of my cards that use Stampin' Up products. As I am an Independent Stampin' Up demonstrator, it is a requirement to ensure that the Stampin' Up ® images are copyright protected.

If this does help anyone, I would be pleased to know about it.

Belated Birthday Card - Lana

This is the belated birthday card I made for my friend Lana. I purchased some Glitter Sheets so I thought I'd make her card with this nice sparkly paper. I'm really happy with how the card turned out. I also like that it is a simple card, especially since I only had about 30 minutes to make it. The scan of this card isn't the best, as the Glitter sheet is green, which is hard to see properly.

Wedding Invitation - Dummy Card for Kate

The following card was made for my friend Kate who is getting married. This card was CASED from Jayne Mercer, as published in Australian Stamping and Papercraft Magazine Vol 14 Nr 12. Kate liked this card for her wedding invitations, so I have done up a dummy one for her to show her what the card will look at. I have modified it slightly in size and adding additional embellishments, however it pretty much looks the same as the publish one, just a different colour.

Craft - Update #02

Today was a fun filled day of crafting with my girlfriend. She came to work on her calendar page for a swap she is in and I am slowly but surely progressing my mum's scrapbook album. I have committed to having it done by September 2009, at the absolute latest. I'd say I'm about half way through.

I have done a little bit of card making this weekend while I also reorganised my craft room. The following card was CASED from Lana Murray of Keep It Simply Stamping (K.I.S.S). I liked her card so much I brought the paper pack and made my own card.

There were six sheets of this 6"x6" patterned paper. Since this card turned out so great, I plan to use all six sheets to make more of this type of card, just changing the sentiment on each of them. I like that the card is very simple but also very effective. The colours come to gether really well.

Mother's Day Card

Last night I made the following card for Mother's Day:

My mum really liked the card. The technique for this card came from a tutorial on You Tube called Spellbinders Nestabilities Origami Flower and it is presented in two parts, which can be located at Part One and Part Two.

I found making this card very simple and quite quick. I actually made three cards in total and let my mum pick the one she liked the best. The other two cards have been uploaded to my picasa web album, FiLoMa's Craft 2009.

Making these Origami flower cards reminded me how much I love my card making. It has been ages since I made any cards, and this is just the start of getting me back into it.

Craft - Update #01

Yesterday, Sunday 05 April 2009, my girlfriend came round for a craft session. We are both participating in Elle's 2010 Black & White calendar swap. My girlfriend worked on her design, whereas I am currently scrap booking my mum's new house. I'm not a scrapper by heart, so I'm finding this a real chore and I know I have very high expectations of myself to do a great job for my mum. When I have finished the project I will upload the pages to my album. In the mean time, I have not really been doing any card making. Still buying craft supplies, but not getting much use out of them. I will be aiming to work on mum's scrap book album today, as well as make a card or two. I will upload the cards when I have finished them.

Xmas Cards - I've made a start

I've been really slack and have not made any Xmas cards since I started card making a few years ago. This year I have decided that my priority is Xmas cards and birthday cards, as well as my calendar swaps. As such, I've made a start on Xmas cards. This card is made using gold & red cardstock, ribbon and Xmas paper. I am mass producing these were possible and so far have made about 10 in total.

Last week I made some more "Template Cards". I used Red Hat Society Theme paper, so I stuck to the Red Hat theme colours of Red & Purple. I then used my Sizzlits diecuts to do Red Hats with purple embelishments for decoration. I am happy with how these cards turned out and they are very simple in style and technique.

I'm no longer making Altered Fat book pages, ATCs or Bookmarks. However, I plan to improve on the stats above, with the exception of Movies/TV Series, I could/should probably cut back on how much I sit in front of the tube.

I also did not achieve my personal goal of making 250 cards. I am happy with what I did achieve, 159 cards, and I do not plan on setting any goals for 2009. I just want to make cards and however many I make, I will be happy with that.

I'm looking forward to 2009 being a great year for achieving many things.

Tonight I picked up the 2009 Black & White theme calendar hosted by Elle Gee. This calendar is fantastic, everyone has done an outstanding job. Since getting my calendar, I have scanned in my 2nd page. I have only scanned the cover and not the inside. Father's Day Card

Birthday Card - Green, Frogs & 50

Spent the weekend making cards. The majority of my cards were using the template I have, as per my previous posts. Majority were done with normal patterned paper, but I did do a few more using the proper Japanese Rice Paper. I also had some serviettes ready to go, so I just constructed some cards using some of those serviettes. I am very happy with my work and extremely please that I am on track for meeting my personal goal of 250 cards for 2008.

Japanese Rice paper Card with Bling

I'm still loving the template I have been using to make cards. Below is another one, but this time I only used one pattern paper, a Japanese Rice paper, which has been stuck to Bazzill "Diamond" Bling and then fixed atop Bazzill "Spoiled Brat" Bling. I think these colours come together really well. I have used the Bazzill to punch out the flowers and fixed them with an orange type colour brad bling. I have then stamped some inspirational words onto shrink plastic and attached that with some white cotton, so that it isn't visible. I plan to give this card to a girlfriend for her birthday. I am really happy with this card.

Paper Tole Cards

Below are the cards I made using Paper Tole. This is my first attempt at Paper Tole & probably my last. I didn't find it particularly relaxing cutting everything out, well the fine parts anyway and my technique could do with improving. That's not to say I hated it, but I don't think it is my calling. I may do more Paper Tole type cards if the detail isn't quite so fine. Anyway, I'm not 100% happy with my Paper Tole effort and by that I mean I doubt I will give these cards to anyone, but keep them within my collection. That said, it being my first attempt, I am happy with them to a degree.

These are the cards that I have made over the last fortnight. Some of them have embellishments on the front & some don't. Those that don't I'm happy with how they are, but before I send them to anyone I will decided whether I want to add something further. The cards were made using a template. I have used 6"x6" paper pads, but I believe the template is a great idea for using up scrap papers. That will be my next project, especially using Xmas papers. I need to start on Xmas cards.

Cards made over the last month

These are the cards I have made in the last month. The paper came from one of the magazines I buy, I think it was a UK one and I thought there was so much I could do. I loved being able to do the same card layout just using different colours. I also enjoyed using my MissyB stamps to go with the underwear paper.

Well my craft mojo is back in full force. I'm now in the mood to be creating often and I have my friend Nicole to thank for helping me get my craft mojo back. Nicole is new to card making, and her enthusiasm is very contagious. I am very excited to have my craft mojo back and am re-exploring all the great stuff I have in my craft room. I also decided that I really wanted to make a stamp with my latest Stampin' Up "Fabulous Flowers" set. This card was inspired by "The Stampin' Librarian".

Yesterday at work my work colleague & friend Nicole showed me the lovely birthday card she had made for her friends 13 year daughter. I noticed that she had use some pattern paper that I had recently got from purchasing the UK magazine papercraft essentials issue 28. As it turns out she had purchased the same magazine. Seeing Nicole's card inspired me to come home and put together some cards using this patterned paper. I already had a design in mind, so I just had to make it come to life. I selected 6 pieces of paper and made the following cards:

I am really happy with how all these cards turned out. The majority of cardstock & ribbon are Stampin' Up. I was pleased that I could match the colours pretty well. I am inspired to go back and use previous pattern papers that have been part of a magazine purchase.

Birthday card

Yesterday was my girlfriend Elle's birthday. She had small dinner party with some of her closes friends, which fortunately I am lucky enough to be one. It was a great night, I had a really good time, the company was fabulous. Elle's into the black & white theme at the moment, she is even hosting a calendar 2009 swap of this theme, which I am participating in. As such, I decided to do her birthday card in the black & white theme. The birthday card was inspired by the calendar. Unfortunately I will not post a copy of the calendar page, well the one I have done, as I actually have to do two months, since there are only six participants. Anyway, I don't want anyone in that swap to see the calendar page before they get their calendar, so that page and other calendar pages will be posted towards the end of the year. Anyway, I did want to share the card that I made for Elle.

cards_r_us Friendship pages complete

I've been extremely behind on my yahoo group cards_r_us Friendship pages, which were due at the end of March. Won't go into the reasons for my lateness, but needless to say I have now finished all pages, ready for posting tomorrow, Monday 26 May 08. I will say that half way through this swap I lost my craft mojo, so I have found it challenging to finish these pages and some of the themes were challenging to me as I didn't have anything or minimal items within that theme range to use. However, at the end of the day, I am happy with how each of my friendship page themes turned out.

There is still one friendship page not completed, but that is my own page. My theme was Girl Stuff with a splash of Pink. Since we are binding our own friendship pages, I have not worried that mine isn't done. I will work on it over the next couple of weeks, including the front & back cover, then I will bind it using my bind-it-all machine.

Stampin' Up Card Fronts

Today was my monthly Stampin' Up® Demo Training. As usual, it was a great morning & I thoroughly enjoyed making the following cards:

This was my first time using the Stampin' Up watercolour cardstock. Even though I'm not the best at colouring in, I did find this an interesting card to make (card 1). Of the three cards made, two of the stamp sets (Lovely As a Tree & Garden Whimsy) were already on my to buy list, but now I think I'll have to add "Pick a Petal".

Edited correction 13 June 2008 - At the time of this post, I forgot to give credit from where these card fronts were CASED. The butterfly card is CASED from Marelle Taylor, the tree CASED from Jennifer Connolly and the Happy Birthday was from Splitcoasters, but unfortunately I can't recall who that was. I sincerely apologies to anyone I may have offended by not actually stating where the idea for these cards came from.

As mentioned in an earlier post, I have been behind with my swaps on a couple of yahoo groups. When I got back from my holiday in Queensland, I decided that I will catch up on all my overdue swaps. I am still a little behind, I have 6 outstanding cards to make before I am completely caught up. However, I did take time out last Thursday to catch up on as many as possible, focusing on outstanding birthday cards and the flood swap run by yahoo group WWRS. Here are the cards I made:

Went through my stash of pre-stamped images
and found these "All About U" stamp set stamps.
I had stamped these using my friends stamp set.
However I now have this Stampin' Up stamp set.

I am very happy with how all these cards turned out. I really love the Stampin' Up stamp set "All About U", I find it a very versatile set. Also, I very rarely ever make a card just using stickers, I generally have at least one stamped image on my cards somewhere. However, since I have many stickers that are just begging to be used, I thought I'd give it a try to use what I had and not feel that I had to add a stamped image. I am very happy with how these cards turned out, but I doubt these types of cards will be in my regular card making, as I just love to incorporate stamping in my card making.

I will be working on the last 6 outstanding swaps that I have. Once they are completed, I will post them. These cards will be done within the next week.

Cards_R_Us March 2008 swaps

I have been extremely late in getting my yahoo group "cards_r_us" March 2008 swaps done. I finished one swap on time, but I still had my 3 ATC's and a Corset card to make. I actually finished these before I went on my holiday to Queensland, but never got around to posting them off to my partner. I posted them on my return home.

Thought I'd do a final post before I fly out to the Gold Coast for a few days to celebrate my birthday. Mother's Day Card

I've been pretty slack when it comes to Mother's Day since my mum lives in South Aust and I live in the ACT. I'm good at remembering to ring her, but a pretty poor daughter in sending her a card. However, this year we will both be in Queensland at the same time, so tonight I took a few moments to make a Mother's Day card for her. I'm pretty sure she will like it, but just in case, I'm planning on making her a "shopping" card like the one I did in an earlier post and then closer to the time I will decide which one I will use. I might even ask my dad, which one he thinks I should give her. I'm pretty happy with how this card turned out. The photo doesn't really do it justice, the Bazzill Bling (Black) doesn't come up very well.

SU Demo Training Card Fronts

Each month I attend my SU Demo training run by Roslyn Vest. I have so much fun at these training sessions, learning to make great cards and seeing what the other ladies come up with. Occasionally I participate in the card front swaps, though I haven't done that for a couple of months now. As it is, I'm behind in posting the card fronts I did at our March training.
