Project Life: Week Three (12-18 January 2014)

Hi my fellow crafters/PL'ers.  I continue to enjoy PL.  I found week three much easier to remember to capture photos, and they very much are of everyday life.  I've come to realise that capturing the small things that I do is a good way of doing a picture journal.  As I'm creating my PL layouts, looking at the photos and reading my notes for that day it brings back the feelings that I experienced at the time.

For those that may be interested I've done a video going in to more detail about each of the photo and the embellishments used.

Project Life: Week Two (5-11 January 2014)

Hello my fellow crafters. I am back, albeit a little later than anticipated.  It has been quite hot here in Canberra Australia and since I don't have an aircon, I have found my craft room not the most enjoyable place to be. You could say that I didn't have much craft inspiration the last couple of weeks.  However, with a bit of a cool change having come through the region I took the opportunity to get into the craft room and work on week two of PL.

I have kept my pages simple and I have not concerned myself as to whether anything really coordinates.  I am happy with the results and to my eye it coordinates enough LOL.  Week two really was just about capturing the everyday moments.  I had a moment when I said to myself "oh my, it's only week two and I'm struggling to take photos".  My struggle didn't last long and I think the main reason I felt I was struggling is that PL is new to me and I'm having to get in the mind set of taking a photo a day.  Considering I've hardly taken any photos over the last few years doing a photo a day is a new process for me.

Anyway, I won't ramble any further.  Below are the few photos I've taken and a link to my YouTube video, which turned out to be longer than anticipated.

Project Life: Week One (1-4 January 2014)

This year I have decided to do Project Life (PL).  In early 2013 I found PL and immediately fell in love with the concept. However, I didn't want to start part way through a year and decided that I would start in 2014. This also gave me several months to be certain I wanted to take on another craft venture.

I am doing a hybrid version of PL. By that I mean I will be incorporating some traditional scrapbooking techniques with taking daily photos and doing a week-in-review.  I am also including calendar months and my 2014 goals.  I've learned through watching several PL videos that it can be anything you want it to be.  PL is all about doing what suites you and your style.  So, without further ado, below is my style of PL.  I have a title page, the month of January in a 12" calendar, my 2014 goals as well as week one, 1-4 January 2014.

Mini Me Mini Album

In 2013 I commenced making this mini album. In the last few days of 2013 I completed it, specifically adding the embellishments.  The album is the Mini Me version from the Retro Fitted Mini Album tutorial created by Kathy Orta from Paper Phenomenon.  The pattern paper used was Vintage Telegram digi papers designed by Marion Smith.

I'm really happy with how the album turned out.  I worked on the assumption that the person who may get this album is not a crafter. To remove any confusion on where to place their photos, and to stop them being concerned about covering up the pretty paper, I put specific photo mats in.

Unfortunately I forgot to take photos of this project and can only offer my YouTube video to see how it turned out.
