My Weight Loss Journey Project - Part 06

These next few pages capture 2014.  The first layout represents me one year on, the next layout is my 2014 Weigh-in graph results and the third layout is my 2014 review.

The base page for the one year on is BoBunny. I found this newspaper print a real challenge since it was so busy.  I kept the layout simple, but it is still quite busy.  I used my pattern paper scraps to make pennants coming down from the the top, which have been layered on to a doily that was sprayed with Heidi Swapp color shine Pink.  I can't recall what ephemera pack the view finder came from, but the camera down the bottom and the oval with flowers was from the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Flea Market collection and the type writer was from her Notes & Things collection. The puffy stickers, one on the camera and the other on the view finder, came from a pack by Evalicious. The date was done using a packet of alphabet letters from a cheap shop and the 'one year on' were Tim Holtz tile stickers.  The potty lady wood veneer was from my stash, and I believe it is Studio Calico.  The butterfly up the top also came from the Notes & Things collection and the vellum pieces I think were from the Flea Market collection.

This next page is my 2014 Weigh-in graph results.  I managed to get my weight down but I lost focus and it steadily climbed back up again.  I pin pointed that I lost focus, and didn't regain it, around the time of the death of my oldest dog, Connor.  I have done several scrapbook layouts, including process videos, if anyone is interested in checking them out.  I know that that is not the only event that caused me to lose focus, but I do think it was a major contributor.  The page has been kept very simple with the graph mounted on to black card stock and a piece of the doily that I cut off from my previous layout adhered to the top left of the chart.

This final layout is my 2014 review.  Just like my 2013 review, I capture what I struggled with and what worked well.  I was not surprised that a few lessons from 2013 carried forward into 2014.  The dot points are marked with an arrow from Word and then I have added several pieces of ephemera from the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Open Book collection and several rub-on's, at the end of the dot points, that are from the American Craft Amy Tangerine Stitched collection.  I have also stamped the Amy Tangerine camera on to vellum with versamark, covered with black embossing power and heat set.  The review is mounted on to black cardstock with pattern paper scraps at the top and bottom followed by a strip each of the gold and pink glitter tape.  On the base of the page I have a large doily that has been cut in half and sprayed with Heidi Swapp color shine Gold.

I do not have a process video for any of the above layouts, but I have done a YouTube layout share where I explain what I've used.  Here is the link if you are also interested in the YouTube video.

My Weight Loss Journey Project - Part 05

This layout represents me achieving my 5% weight loss goal with Weight Watchers.  When you reach this goal, you are given a bookmark, which has a positive quote written on it as well as highlighting you have reached 5%.  It is a small way of recognising the hard work someone has done to achieve this.  I really wanted both sides of the bookmark to be readable, so I created a velum pouch for it to slide into and out of. I also wanted it to be readable when it is inside the velum pocket.

The base page of this layout is BoBunny and My Mind's Eye.  The wood veneers came from a Scraptastic kit club kit, as well as the flair button and I think the gold glitter tape was also in one of my kits.  The camera, which is an Amy Tangerine one, was stamped on to velum with versamark ink then gold embossing power sprinkled over top and heat set.  The bow is a cut from my Silhouette CAMEO and the pearl/bing centre I got from my local scrapbook store a number of years ago.

Here is a picture of the layout and below that my YouTube process video.

My Weight Loss Journey Project - Part 04

The next two layouts I created I kept very simple.  The first photo is my weigh-in graph results. It captures my weekly Weight Watchers weigh-in's from July to December 2013.  The only real decoration I did was add a yellow doily that came from a Scraptastic kit club kit as well as a piece of ephemera from the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Flea Market collection.

The second photo, again I kept it really simple, is a brief review of 2013. I wanted to capture the things I learnt, such as what I struggled with and what worked well.  This page has been decorated with some homemade enamel dots, a die cut of a pair of glasses and some chevron punches next to my dot points. I have used glitter black thickers for the title.

Here is a photo of both layouts, followed by a YouTube layout share, as I did not do a process video for these two layouts.

My Weight Loss Journey Project - Part 03

In this layout, I capture the day I joined Weight Watchers in 2013. I have, like others before me, joined Weight Watchers on several occasions.  As I mentioned in my beginning video/blog post, I assessed why I kept sabotaging myself and once that was worked through I had no problems joining again and being committed in receiving the support I want and need to help me achieve my healthy lifestyle, through weight loss and exercise.

I know that this photo of me is not very flattering, but I will be able to look back and see how poorly I treated my body and know, through what I learn from Weight Watchers and my support network, that I don't want to go back to looking and feeling so uncomfortable.

Here is a photo of my layout, and below that a link to my YouTube process video.

My Weight Loss Journey Project - Part 02

This layout showcases my Weight Watchers leader, Denise.  Denise is a wealth of knowledge, inspiration and motivation.  She makes attending the weekly meetings enjoyable. I learn from her, and fellow members, and can take away at least one tip each week.  As Denise is an integral part to my weight loss, or more importantly, my healthy lifestyle journey, I wanted to capture her in my album.

Here is a photo of my layout and below that a link to my YouTube process video.

My Weight Loss Journey Project - Part 01

I have been meaning to scrapbook my weight loss journey for the last several months but just never got around to it.  In December 2014, Sarah Swann posted a video on YouTube sharing her weight loss journey, which she has been documenting in a smash book.  It was the motivation I needed to get on with scrapping my own journey.  Not long after this video Sarah created a Facebook group called "Scrapping off the weight" (SOTW), which I have joined.  It is a great group of like minded people wanting to document their weight loss journey through scrapbooking.

Below are photos of my title page, "My Weight Loss Journey", page 2 "I'm not dieting", page 3 "In the beginning..." and the inside front and back covers that capture how many kilograms I want to lose and have lost.  I also have a process video if anyone is interested in watching it.

The album I am using is my homemade smash book.  You can find the YouTube video here.

My title base page is BoBunny.  The majority of ephemera used is from several Maggie Holmes collections.  I created a cluster in the top right hand corner, using several different shapes and sizes to add character to the page.  I sprayed a white dolly with Heidi Swapp Teal colour shine.  I created another cluster around my photo. First I layered my photo on to pattern paper, placed a chipboard frame over the photo, layered the black and white chevron paper to the right and attached a 3" x 4" project life card from Shimelle's collection.  The PL card is a bit of pun, as it says "boarding pass". I found this quite funny as it captures me getting on board with my weight loss journey.

In the top left of the photo I have placed a wood veneer view finder, which also has a butterfly paperclip adhered to it.  The flair button to the bottom right of the photo says "photos + stories" and I feel correctly captures what information will be contained within the pages.  To the right of the word loss I have a wood veneer bicycle. Again, another pun to capture moving more and getting fitter.  I have used blue glitter thickers for my title and the colour scheme of this layout was centred around the colour of these thickers.

"My Weight Loss Journey"

This next page, "I'm not dieting" I kept quite simple. I want the message to be clear that I am embarking on a lifestyle change not a time bound diet.  The decoration on this page has been kept to two clusters, bottom left and top left.  The acetate clock is to reflect that this journey is not bound by time and that it will take me however long I need it to.

"I'm not dieting"

This next page captures the history behind previous weight loss attempts and how long I have been attempting to lose weight.  I record my decision to go back to Weight Watchers, the date I rejoined and the amount I weighed in at.  The page was kept simple so that the focus can remain on the story.  I have a few wood veneer, cork and sequin embellishments.  The colour scheme of the page was centred around the title. I really wanted to use these red glitter thickers and I was very happy when the length of the word fitted on my page.

Page 3
"In the beginning..."

The final photos I have to show you is inside the front and back covers.  I have glued a mason jar, printed from the internet on velum, in the inside of the front & back covers.  The inside front cover captures the amount of kilograms I would like to lose and the inside back cover captures the amount of kilograms I have lost.  This is represented by a homemade enamel dot. Each enamel dot represents 1 kilogram.  I decided that it just wasn't practical to do it by grams. Therefore I have to lose a full kilo before an enamel dot can be moved from the inside front to inside back cover.  I find the enamel dots look like a handful of smarties and pleasing to my eyes to have all this colour.
