FMAK #2/2015 - Layout Share - Good Times in the Sunshine

Hello my fellow crafters. Today I have taken the time to make this layout and post it on the same day.  Last night I confirmed that I wanted to scrap these photos and selected the papers I wanted to use.  As I mentioned in my previous post I'm not really a green type of girl for scrapping, but I fell in love with this paper when I saw it. It is from the Kaisercraft "All that Glitters" paper collection. I decided I would not focus on the green but instead worked on making the gold splats, which are part of the paper, being more noticable.  I did that by using quite a bit of gold in my design and not just as an accent piece.

The layout is based on this Sketch Savvy double page sketch.  Unfortunately I couldn't find this layout on their blog so it is a screen shot from a fellow scrapper who recently did a layout based on this design. However, if you click on the sketch it will take you to the Sketch Savvy blog so you can check out their other sketches if you are interested.

You will see from my layout that my photos are landscape and not portrait so I had to make a few concessions. I'm really happy with how it all seemed to come together.  Even though I was working from a sketch this layout still took me about 2.5 hours.  No wonder I never get many layouts down.

It is a double page spread. Here is a photo of the double page together.

Here is the left side page of the double page spread.

And here is the right side page of the double page spread.

The embellishments used on the page also came from the Kaisercraft "All that Glitters" collectables packet and the thickers are by Amy Tangerine called "Grace".

FMAK #2/2015 - Layout Share - Go Seek Explore

Hello my fellow crafters. Today I am sharing with you a layout of my deceased cat Thomas.  This photo was taken in 1994.  I'd been looking at this photo for a while wanting to scrap it but just couldn't decided on what papers/products I wanted to use. Driving to work a couple of weeks ago I thought of the photo and almost immediately the papers, embellishments and layout design came in to my head.  Later on that night I scraped it, using my "Month of Me" kit and it turned out just how I had visualised it.  Given that I'm not a green type of girl for scrapping I am happy with it even if I do say so myself LOL.

FMAK #2/2015 - Layout Share - Kyral Castle

Hi fellow crafters. I have slowly but surely been using my homemade kit titled "Month of Me".  Today I'm sharing with you a layout of myself and my friend when we visited Kyral Castle, just out side Ballarat, Victoria, Australia in 1989.  We got to play dress-ups LOL.

FMAK #2/2015 - Layout Share - 15 Going On 25

Hi fellow crafters. I'm back with the next layout that I created using the Month of Me kit.  The photo of this layout was taken in approximately 1985. At this stage I'm scrapping general photos as I have not yet printed any photos for my Month of Me project. I will give an update on that project within the coming weeks.

As for this layout, the majority of product used is from the American Craft Dear Lizzy Serendipity collection, such as the 12" pattern papers, puffy stickers, ticket stickers and enamel dots. I have also used elements from Heidi Swapp's September Skies collection plus bits and bobs from various places. A full description of products used can be found at the end of this blog post.

I have also produced a process video for this layout. I have used a number of mixed media techniques, and wanted to show and share this with my subscribers. If you are not a subscriber and are interested in the process of how this layout came together, please check out the process video below.

FMAK #2/2015 - Layout Share - Road Trip & Adventure

Hi fellow crafters. Today I am showing you the first layout that I have created using my Month of Me kit.  Not all layouts using this kit have to do with my Month of Me Project. Since it is such a large kit I have decided that I will use it not only for my project but for other layouts that I may want to create for the month of May and June. I have definitely decided to carry this kit over into the month of June.

This particular layout is of my friend Pam and I on the day we headed off on our holiday to the Gold Coast in Queensland.  It was a driving holiday, so much better to have your own transport, and I asked Pam to take a selfie with me to document us heading off from her place.  It was quite late in the morning, around 9am but it was, at least until he hit north-west Sydney, a beautiful sunny day.

I have kept this layout very simple, using a couple of doilies, project life cards and the base paper from the September Skies collection, Studio Calico silver rub-on stars, puffy stickers, a brad, flair button and a bubble type stencil with modeling paste.

As I mentioned at the start, this is a very large kit.  This is one of the reasons why I am considering using it into June.

If you are just starting out putting your own kits together, I recommend a much smaller kit.  You can always check out current kit clubs for ideas on quantity.

I will be back either during May to show layouts made for the Month of Me project or in June to show an overview.
