Altered Book "Journey"

I have made an altered book. Well, I guess I have modified it really LOL.  I purchased a second hand book and gutted the pages out of it.  I covered the book cover with Tim Holtz tissue paper. I made five signatures for my book and each signature had five pieces of pattern paper and one piece of vellum.  I used various stamps, rub-ons and cut outs to decorate my pages before coating/sealing them with Gesso Transparency.  This way I can colour with paints etc and do further decorating as I go.

I have created this altered book to take with me to my Weight Watchers meetings and write done things that I learn as well as my weekly committment to myself. I am forgetting what I'm committing each week and I want to remove my amnesia LOL.   I will also add quotes and stick pictures in as I go that I find inspiring and offer me motivation to succeed.

Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of book and only have my YouTube video for you to see my creation.

Altered Canvas "Mum"

A few weeks back I completed a canvas on my mum. I uploaded my video to YouTube but forgot to write this blog post, so here it is.

The background was done using a serviette. I have also used stencils with modelling paste, gesso, pearls, Wild Orchid Craft flowers and crown pin and a bit of bling and lace ribbons.

Art Journal Page - FiLoMa's Art Journey

Hi fellow crafters. I've been playing more and more with mixed media and am loving it.  I recently purchased the A4 Art Journal book designed by Dyan Reaveley. This is a great book and I can't wait to fill it up with my creativity.

To start my book off I wanted to capture that it is going to be my art journey, to learn, experiment and expand my ability, so I went with the title FILOMA'S ART JOURNEY. I felt it was fitting for what I want to capture in the book.

My inspiration for this page came from Vicky Papaioannou of Clips-n-Cuts.  The specific inspiration was from her "resolution 2013" art journal page, which you can find on her YouTube channel here.

I've done a quick video as well as taken photos.

Use It Up Detash Mini Album Page Swap

Hi fellow crafters. Prior to the PITA Facebook group shutting down, I participated in the use it up detash mini album page swap.  I made six pages. The style of my pages is based on Kathy Orta's Retro Fitted Mini Album - see Paper Phenomenon - to grab the tutorial.

I had heaps of fun making these pages. I focused on using paper from my stash that I had already dug into, but still had a few sheets of the collection left.  With the exception of one page, all pages were made using Kasiercraft collections. The one that wasn't Kaisercraft was Bo Bunny. I love the papers from both these companies.

Below is a link to my YouTube video as well as photos of each page.

Canvas - ME

Hi fellow crafters. Yep, I seem to be MIA with my blog posts, but I am creating. My projects now take longer to make as I am experimenting with different tips and techniques.

Recently I decided I wanted to finish a canvas that I started last year. I didn't really do much last year, just cover it with tissue paper and inked it up. It has sat on my shelf for nearly a year until a couple of weeks ago I decided to actually do something with it.

I selected a photo of myself, taken about three years ago, to be the guinea pig. That way if I stuff up I wasn't concerned about losing the photo - I can always print a new one.  I did up a layout, took a photo and walked away for about a week. Came back, decided to do a second layout and instead of taking a photo and thinking about it again I opted for just going with what came to mind.  Since I was now 'just going with the flow' I decided to glue things down and see what will happen. A bit like throwing spaghetti to the wall and seeing what sticks.

I glued everything down and then gesso'd everything so I could then spray, paint, splatter over all the objects to get the desired colour I wanted.  The reason I did that was because I didn't have the right coloured flowers for what I wanted and instead of buying new flowers I made do with what I had.  Basically I followed a tip given by Arlene Cuevas aka mybutterflykisses12 on YouTube, specifically:
Below is a quick YouTube video of the end result and below that are some photos. An overall photo with a few close ups of a few elements.

Retro Fitted Mini Album

In June 2012, I joined the Paper Phenomenon (PP) Kit Club (KC).  There are now two PP KCs, the Everyday KC and the Holiday KC. I'm a member of both.  The June 2012 KC project was titled the "Retro Fitted Mini Album" and decorated using Simple Stories Summer Fresh Collection.

This was my first KC project and yes, I've only just got around to creating it now LOL.  I have many PP tutorials, I find Kathy Files a very talented person, and I love many of her projects but I would have to say that this project, the Retro Fitted is in my top five.  There are two reasons for that, a) it was my first KC project and b) it is a project that combines the love of mini album making, with hidden pockets but the pages allow you to create standard traditional scrapbook layouts if that is what you would like to do.  However, I still have about 15 projects to make so maybe when I get through making more this may drop down my list. If you are after an interesting mini album tutorial then this one is definitely worth considering.

B2B Beginner Album

Hi fellow crafters. About a month ago I made the beginner album in the back to basics (B2B) tutorial kit/scrapinar created by Kathy Orta aka Kathy Files from Paper Phenomenon.  I think this tutorial kit/scrapinar is great and I've got a lot out of it, and I've only completed the beginner album.  I've gained lots of inspiration for cards through the matting of this album.  When they are done I will upload them. I still have the intermediate and advanced albums to make but have gotten side tracked with other craft projects.  I haven't taken any photos of this beginner album only the YouTube video.

Thanks for stopping bye and I appreciate you taking time to watch the video.

Tri-Shutter Card - Graphic 45 "A Ladies Diary" - 50th Birthday

I was commissioned to make a 50th birthday card.  My friend wanted a tri-shutter card that was girly.  This was an easy concept, but it was much harder for me to get my creativity juices flowing for a variety of different reasons. However, once I committed to the G45 Ladies Diary collection and started working out an idea the card just came together.  I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Here is a photo of the card.

Here is a YouTube video of the card.
